10 Ways to Protect Your Phone While on a Trip

Keep it all in a case

Keeping your phone waterproof is a must if you’re planning to wade out in the water during your trip.

Protect your screen

A screen protector made of tempered glass is a good option for your phone when you travel. Aside from protecting your device from scratching, it can also absorb impact in case the phone gets dropped.

Be extra careful on the beach

Extreme temperatures at the beach, along with the water and the sand, can spell disaster for your phone. To prevent any major damage, invest in a good waterproof case. Protect your mobile from the sun using a case with a light cover. Keep the device away from direct sunlight to avoid overheating.

Be wary of extreme temperatures

Just as too much sun can be damaging, cold temperatures can take their toll on your device. Apple recommends avoiding phone usage in temperatures below 32 degrees. Your battery can drain or die. Android phones may fare better, but just to be safe, take steps to safeguard your phone from the cold.

If you have to use your phone in cold environments, try and avoid long periods and keep it safe and snug inside the warmth of your pocket when not in use. Additionally, use a protective case built for such climate.

Keep a portable charger

When you’re out traveling, chances are there will be periods when you have to go without a power supply for your phone. Avoid a dead battery by carrying around a portable charger. This will help you with extended mobile use.

Power down

It’s a good idea to turn your phone off for a while when it’s not in use. This will help you save more of your battery life as well as reduce the effects of extreme temperatures. In the case of water damage, immediately turning your mobile off can prevent short circuits.

Take anti-theft protection

Always be wary of leaving your device unattended or vulnerable in open spaces, such as tabletops while you’re outdoor, or letting it hang in your bag where it can be easily reached and stolen. Small body bags with useful pockets for your essentials are a good option to keep your valuables close.

Implement security features on your phone such as password protection and tracking to protect your personal information and easily trace the device’s location.

Keep your phone away on the plane

Don’t leave your phone on your seat, table or pocket while on the plane. Some people have experienced their devices sliding off and getting lost. Keep it well away on your pouch or bag for safekeeping.

Keep your device in the hotel safe

Just in case it isn’t completely necessary for you to bring your phone along, such as when you go swimming or diving, leave it behind on your hotel room safe.

Purchase insurance

Finally, it’s always a good idea to get covered and prepare for any possible scenario. Insure your phone and get coverage for any type of damage, including common ones such as dropping and breaking.
