Drain Repair For Your Kitchen And Bathroom

Have you ever had problems with your kitchen or bathroom sink? Has your drains ever become clogged to the point that they won’t drain any water at all? When you have sink drainage problems there are a variety of ways to fix and unclog the pipes. Depending on what is plugging up your pipelines you also may need to replace the traps and main line. Hopefully the tips and suggestions below will help you get your bathroom and kitchen sinks working properly once again.

There are a variety of degrees of drainage system clogs which of course can be caused by a number of things from food, materials, debris, and other substances that shouldn’t be put drained. One of the best ways to prevent getting a clogged drain in your kitchen in the future is to have a garbage disposal system installed by a trained plumber. Usually the garbage disposal can grind up anything you dump into it which keep large chunks of food from going down your sink.

If the water stops draining in your kitchen or bathroom you can get a simple solution from Wal-Mart or a grocery store near you. The best solutions will help dissolve and breakdown food particles and grease that has built up in your drainage pipes.

Another home remedy for unclogging a bathtub and sinks is to pour some baking powder in them. About a cup or just a little less will do it. After adding the baking powder the next step is to add about 1/3 cup of vinegar and then pour some very hot water on it, about 1/2 cup. Let it stay in the pipeline for about 30-35 minutes and then run very hot water down the drain for about 60 seconds.

Besides adding a garbage disposal for prevention from clogging you can also run hot water down your drains every couple of days. So, every two to three days turn your hot water on in your tubs and sinks for about one to two minutes. This will help prevent plugging up your pipes and keep odors at a minimum.

One of the best ways to realize your drain is plugged up is that water starts running down it very slowly. Of course before that happens you may notice a strange odor or smell because of food that is moldy and built up inside the pipes. It won’t be long after you smell the odors that the water stops draining correctly so it means it is time to do the baking powder or the solution mix steps!

Good luck with fixing and repairing your drainage systems for your kitchen and bathrooms!
