Is Cardboard More Absorbent Than A Garage Water Mat?

It’s tough to keep up with daily chores around the house and we often tend to overlook the cleaning tasks that are not right underneath our noses. After a while, the places that we have been ignoring start to demand our attention. It’s quite embarrassing when a friend or neighbor points out our oversight, isn’t it? Maybe they have our best interests at heart when they point out the damage that has been caused to our storage boxes, by rainwater that has been falling from our cars, over time.

We might not worry about rainwater and not think twice about the drips that turn into rivers beneath our car whenever we return from a trip to the store. It’s unfortunate that the typical garage is not fitted with a drainage system, but this is often the case. This water must go somewhere and unless you have a garage water mat, where is it going to migrate to? That’s right, those cardboard boxes contained all around the room will act as the absorbent.

Storage boxes are cheap and cheerful and made from cardboard, which is readily available. However, this product is highly absorbent and far from ideal if we are storing materials in a wet place. If you don’t have a garage water mat to look after all the rainwater that will invariably come, your garage will be such a wet place. Those cardboard boxes will act as your absorbent material and ruin everything stored within.

Maybe it’s time for you to consider renting one of those air-conditioned and climate controlled storage facilities, downtown? After all, you can keep all your keepsakes and heirlooms in there without any risk of damage. Of course this is an ongoing monthly cost. Maybe it would be better for you to consider buying a garage water mat as a far less costly and better option?

By putting a garage water mat in place to protect this room and all its belongings throughout the year, you avoid the cost of replacing all your stored materials. They may be out of sight and out of mind, but if you are storing them there in the first place, they have to have a value to you. You probably won’t see the damage that is being caused to them by pooling rainwater, but it will be very real nonetheless.

A garage water mat has been specifically manufactured to cope with gallons of liquid at any one time, a typical threat posed by surplus rainwater. It is made of super absorbent polypropylene and is even good at catching all that melting snow and slush which can be an even bigger issue in the winter.

View a garage water mat as one of your biggest investments. Few of us have the luxury of self-contained and separate storage areas, or can afford an external storage facility. Your stored items will be damaged if you are not careful, but by placing an absorbent material on the floor beneath your vehicles you will be ahead of the game.

As the stormy season approaches, understand that from time to time you must make purchases as an investment for the future. Classify a garage water mat as just such an investment and if you have more than one vehicle, make sure that you buy the appropriate quantity. This will help you avoid unnecessary and unwanted costs in the future and the heartbreak of losing some cherished keepsakes.
